Bipolar disorder (BD) isacomplex, recurrent,and severeillnesscharacterized by oneauthenticated and onecurrentaffectiveepisode(hypomanic, manic, depressive or mixed). Because ofmood-congruent psychoticsymptoms, the diseaseincreases therisk of having self harmed and attempted suicide with high lethalintent.
