A rare case of primary sinonasal tuberculosis presented with phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis in a pediatric patient: A case report and literature review

Phlyctenular keratoconjunctivitis (PKC) has been described asa morphologicexpression ofa delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction to diverse antigens. It presentsas inflamed nodules on thecorneaand conjunctiva. M. tuberculosis isamong the mostcommon causes ofPKC worldwide, particularlywheretuberculosis (TB) remainsendemic. [1–3] Although extra-pulmonarymanifestations ofTBarecommonly described in pediatric patients, sinonasalTBisextremely rareand could be misdiagnosed because of non-specificsymptoms. [4,5] We presentacase ofa 7-year-old boy diagnosed with primary sinonasalTBoftheleftmaxillary sinus, presentingwith PKC ofthelefteye.
