Regulating asphalt pavement temperature via composite phase change material has been considered as an effective way to mitigate temperature-related pavement distresses. In this study, the diatomite-supported PEG composite was used as filler to realize the self-regulating temperature property of asphalt mixture. The highest self-regulating temperature variation of ~7.3?°C can be achieved when the content of composite is around 4%. Although the addition of composite phase change materials can impact road performance, including mechanical properties, high temperature stability, water stability and microstructures, the effects were weak and could be ignored. Furthermore, the water stability was decreased with increasing composite contents, but still satisfies the specification requirements.
