Collins Aerospace starts TCTS Ⅱ limited production

Collins Aerospace has started production on its next-generation Tactical Combat Training System II, and received milestone C approval for the program on schedule in April. Chip Gilkison, director of integrated test and training solutions at Collins Aerospace, said while the Navy has been the initial client of the program, the Air Force and F-35 Joint Program Office are both planning on using the system as well. "We are going to have a common test and training solution for the next 20 plus years," he said. "We are enabling our warfighters to be much better prepared than they ever have been. Hopefully they never have to go employ the tactics they are developing, but they'll be ready if they have to go in harm's way." Collins Aerospace and Leonardo DRS developed and built the system. The program received its first production order and completed a flight demonstration with TCTS Ⅱ on Super Hornets in May. Gilkison said the first delivery of the system is scheduled for early summer 2022, with initial operational capability expected late next year.
