From the Desk to the Bench: Skills I use as a judge that I learned as a law librarian

The first seven years of my legal career were spent in an academic law library in Salt Lake City where I worked the public reference desk and taught legal research to law students. Many of the skills I use now as a judge I learned then as a law librarian. When I became a judge, what surprised me the most was that the things I thought would be easy were hard and the things I thought would be hard were easy.
