EDUCATING LAWYERS A LAW FIRM APPROACH TO EFFECTIVE TRAINING

Tips for improving research training and engagement. Discussion of research education often occurs in the context of academic law librarianship. Whether focused on class curricula in Advanced Legal Research and Legal Research and Writing, or external/stealth training such as clinic embedding, research brown bags, or vendor-sponsored events, debate and discussion abounds on how best to train law students. Research education, however, does not end with graduation. Law firm librarians are responsible for research training and introductions to new and exciting products that could make their work lives much easier; the time saved equals money saved to the client and more time to spend on other projects. Therefore, training is more important than ever now that clients themselves are demanding that associates be efficient and use tools that enhance their productivity.
