Using and Abusing the Google Model for Innovation in the Law Library - The Yale Law Library looks to Google for inspiration

Every law librarian should be allowed to knock around with one spectacularly rummy but potentially brilliant idea per decade. The last one I had, back when the new millennium was still but a twinkle in the calendar's eye, was a proposed librarians' jaunt to Norway for the purpose of examining the then quite innovative idea of automated materials handling systems. I was living in a particularly damp and chilly bit of the Pacific Northwest at the time, and I remember part of my motivation concerned schnapps and Norwegian knitwear. Sadly, the idea never took off, and my director took us all for a tour of a local tire factory instead. If we aim for the stars, we tend to bonk our heads on the ceiling, as my dear old Granny used to say.
