Need Satisfaction and Discipline of the Left-Behind Children’s Caregivers to Their Children—Based on the Interview of Left-Behind Children’s Family Members in Le’an County, Jiangxi Province

目的：调查留守儿童养育者的教养方式及其对留守儿童心理发展的影响。方法：采用深度访谈法，访谈对象为江西省乐安县的8个留守儿童家庭的孩子与主要抚养人。关注问题为留守儿童的养育者对孩子需求的满足与管教状况。结果：留守儿童养育者普遍存在不合理的消费观念，对孩子基本需求的满足匮乏，且对孩子的管教方式关注不足，普遍存在并被家庭系统强化的体罚也将损害亲子依恋关系。结论：留守儿童养育者现有的家庭教养方式可能不利于孩子的心理发展。 Purpose: The research aims to investigate the parenting style of left-behind children’s caregivers and its influence on the psychological development of left-behind children. Methods: Adopting in-depth interviews, a sample comprising left-behind children and their primary caregivers from 8 families in Le’an County, Jiangxi Province was used to reveal left-behind children’s caregivers’ satisfaction of their children’s needs and their discipline. Results: The caregivers of left-behind children generally have an unreasonable view of consumption, characterized by lack of meeting the basic needs of children, and pay insufficient attention to discipline. The widespread physical punishment reinforced by their family system will also damage the parent-child attachment. Con-clusions: The current parenting style may be detrimental to the psychological development of left-behind children.
