A sophomore girl majored in engineering, came to consult because of interpersonal problems, and was evaluated as high social anxiety through interviews and Interaction Anxiousness Scale assess-ment. Since she entered the university, she has faced many interpersonal problems and it is getting worse. The client is extremely worried that she will perform poorly in public, think herself is useless, and are used to making catastrophic expectations for specific social situations that are about to happen. Under the premise that the client’s cognitive, affection, consciousness and self-knowledge are relatively stable, I explored the reasons behind the symptoms from an ecological psychology perspective, combine the theory of cognitive behavior therapy with the anxiety cycle concept of re-gression therapy, and assist the client in identifying a series of emotional-cognitive-behavioral reac-tions. During consultation, I used techniques such as narrative therapy externalization and finding special events to help the client discover her positive psychological qualities, strengthen her con-fidence in rebuilding reasonable beliefs, and enhance social activities. After 9 counseling sessions, the client self-reported that her symptoms had eased. Returned visit a year later, her mental state was stable. The case suggests a potential effective approach with this kind of case.
