The development of colonic endoscopic submucosaldissection (ESD) expanded the use of endoscopic ther-apy regardless of the tumor’s size, location, or degreeof fibrosis. However, lesions involving diverticula inthe colon are considered a contraindication for endo-scopic treatment because of the absence of musclelayers.
