Title: Change in health perceptions during immigration process a group of Syrian refugee women: analysis within the framework of transition theory of meleis

Purpose: Migration is a complex situational transitionthat rarely occurs in isolations. Use of the transitionsframework allows for recognition of the complex,longitudinal, and iterative components and processesof migration. Refugees experience a long and anduoustransition. Refugees may experience significantchanges in health status. The study purpose toinvestigate the change in health perception of refugeewomen within the framework of transition theory.Materials and methods: This study is a qualitativestudy. Data were collected with a semi-structuredinterview form at in-depth interviews. Obtained datawere analyzed with inductive content analysis.Analysis of interview data provided by thirty Syrianrefugee women.Results: The refugee women’s changing in healthperception were found to comprise the followingthemes "pre-migration access to health care systemand medical practise", " experiences of immigrationprocess", "access to health care system in Turkey andmedical practice,” and “change in health perception"and subthemes.Conclusions: Health perception for Syrian refugeeswomen is status of well-being or not. Health status ofrefugees women got worse during immigrationprocess and postmigration process. Because of refugeewomen in the face of some problems such as languagebarriers, lack of socio-economic situation, inadequacyof access to health care system all of these cause to benegatively change in health perceptions.
