Pathogens circulating in animalpopulations can threaten both animaland human health, and thus both theanimal and human heath sectors havea stake in, and responsibility for, theircontrol. Pathogens – viruses, bacteriaor parasites – have evolved andperfected their life cycles in anenvironment that is more and morefavourable to them and ensures theircontinuity through time by replicatingand moving from diseased host to asusceptible new host.
