The title compound, C 6 H 3 BrN 2 , also known as 3-bromo-picolino-nitrile, was synthesized by cyanation of 2,3-di-bromo-pyridine. In the solid state, short inter-molecular Br?N contacts are observed. Additionally, the crystal packing is consolidated by π – π stacking inter-actions with centroid–centroid distances of 3.7893?(9)??.
