E-Commerce Adoption Factors Among Palestinian Small and Medium Enterprises: “A Descriptive Study”

Palestine is a country consisting of two mainregions; the West Bank and Gaza strip. Palestine isconsidered a developing nation with continuous efforts todevelop its economy using the application of Informationand Communication Technology (ICT) as an importanttool towards that progress. Numerous studies were carriedout on E-Commerce (EC) adoption, however, there are yetany studies that studied it inside Palestine. The objectiveof this study is to analyze the factors influencing ECadoption in Palestine, as the study considers the factorsinfluencing said adoption to be technological,organizational and information culture factors. Athorough analysis was conducted on each factor to gain adeep understanding of the status quo of EC adoption inPalestine. The study utilized a questionnaire survey tocollect data from 50 participants picked from PalestinianSME?s operating in the ICT sector as data collected weredescriptively analyzed. Based on the analysis, three majorfactors were found to be the most relative in regards to ECadoption; these are: IT readiness, technology trust andinformation integrity. The findings of this study willbenefit the government of Palestine, businessesassociations and any organization looking towardssuccessful EC adoption.
