A31-year-oldmancomplainedofrecurrentepisodesofleft-dominantfacialflushingandsweatingprecipitatedbyeating.Hepreviouslybrokehisbilateralmandibularcon-dylesandwastreatedwithconservativemanagement.Here-covereduneventfullybutdevelopedthesesymptomsamonthaftertheinjury.Hehadnohistorynorsymptomsofafoodallergy,soauriculotemporalnervesyndromewassuspected.Weperformedaprovocationtest.Assoonasthepatientbitintoasliceoflemon,erythemaandsweatingappearedontheauriculotemporalregion(Picture).Wethereforeconfirmthediagnosisofauriculotemporalnervesyndrome,alsoknownasFrey'ssyndromeorgustatorysweating.Withthisdiagnosis,hefeltmoreateaseandselectednotreatment.Thissyndromecandevelopafterawidevarietyofinsults,suchastrauma,surgeryorinflammationtotheauriculotem-poralnervefibers.Itisconsideredtobetheresultofmisdi-rectedregenerationofparasympatheticfibersontosympa-theticreceptorssupplyingsweatglandsinsteadofsalivaryglands(1).
