Oshkosh Defense has won a $61 million contract to provide underbody armor kits for the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles, the Army announced Feb. 5. Oshkosh will add the underbody armor to 1,081 vehicles under the contract, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2022, according to the Army's announcement. The underbody armor will be added to existing FMTV A1P2 vehicles, according to Pat Williams, the vice president for Army and Marine Corps programs at Oshkosh Defense. Oshkosh was the only bidder for this underbody armor contract, according to the Army's announcement. The company is also the prime contractor on the next-generation FMTV, the A2, which includes underbody armor, adjustable suspension, increased payload and other upgrades.
