Stakeholders' views of surgeon-specific mortality data

Public release of surgeon-specific mortality data (SSMD) wasmandated by the NHS in 2013, with the aim of enhancingtransparency, driving quality improvement and facilitating patientchoice. Literature evaluating the impact of SSMD publication isconflicting and there is a current paucity of research elucidating itsimportance to patients. As such, the aims of this study were to evaluate the views ofvascular patients regarding current public outcome reporting andto investigate patients’ priorities for future outcome reporting.
