Case Study: A study of a retrospective cataloguing project at Chatham House Library

The next section outlines the background to hidden collections by drawing on some studies published in the lasttwenty years, and Section 3 describes in detail the project I undertook. Section 4 analyses that project with afocus on three challenging aspects, namely the initial appraisal of the hidden collection, the choice ofappropriate cataloguing standards and the issue of institutional memory in a small organisation. Section 5presents the report’s conclusions and provides some recommendations.
