I am a library assistant for the London boroughs of Haringey and Islington, as well as a part-time student on theMA course in Library and Information Studies at University College London. In the summer term we covered theclassification half of the course module Cataloguing and Classification 1, and this article describes the practicallearning process and how this relates to my working experience in public libraries.
