Many factors, including professionaland personal relationships and activities,can influence the design, conduct,and reporting of the clinical sciencethat informs health care decision. Thepotential for conflict of interest existswhen these relationships and activitiesmay bias judgement.1 Many stakeholders—editors,peer reviewers, clinicians,educators, policymakers, patients, andthe public—rely on the disclosure ofauthors’ relationships and activities toinform their assessments. Trust in thetransparency, consistency, and completenessof these disclosures is essential.
