Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a type of aggressivenon-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma derived from naive pregerminalcenter cells of mantle zones1. Despite advancesin the development of targeted therapy, prognosis of MCLis poor, with a median survival of 5–7 years2. Thepathogenesis of MCL is complex due to molecularalterations at several regulatory hubs. Regulatory controlof gene transcription is well studied in most of the cancers,including MCL; however, the regulatory mechanismsof protein translation in cancers including MCL are lessunderstood. Translation machinery, also referred astranslation initiation complex (eIF4F), regulates thetranslation of mRNAs mainly via translation initiationfactor-4E (eIF4E). We and others have previously shownthat eIF4E is overexpressed in MCL tissue, and is correlatedwith poor prognosis.
