It is customary when taking over the reins of apublication to thank your predecessor for theirlabours. Notwithstanding that this is a tradition;I would like to begin by offering genuine andsincere thanks to Freddie Theodoulou, andalso to her predecessor Richard Reece, for theircareful nurturing of The Biochemist over manyyears. It has been a pleasure and an honour to work with them and Ihope, as I step into their shoes, that I can help to maintain the very highstandards they have set for the magazine.
