Brazil offers the brightest hopes in a difficult year for Latin American project markets

It has been a challenging year for Latin American water markets. The COVID-19 pandemic caused major delays throughout the region and political instability rattled investors in Chile and Peru while Argentina's ongoing economic issues stalled major water projects. But as the 33-country-region began to adapt to its new coronavirus measures - with some governments taking costly measures to ensure their vast populations have access to water - economies have started to show early signs of recovery again. As a result, there are emerging signs of life in water project markets when looking toward the coming year, and there are significant plans from several of the region's major countries to boost their post-pandemic economies with water related projects.
