In this paper, a new radiant floor cooling system using phasechange materials was proposed, and the results of preliminarymeasurement using experimental units was presented. The keyfindings are summarized as follows:(1) The cooling effect of the proposed floor radiant coolingsystem was observed. The maximum reduction of surfacetemperature of floor was up to 1.6°C. On the other hand, thenocturnal surface temperature was increased byapproximately 1.0°C.(2) There was a difference of cooling effect between north areaand south area. The maximum difference was approximately0.6°C. This was probably due to the location of exhaust fans.(3) PCMs can store approximately 450-453 kJ/m2 of heat duringnight-time by this system. 56-59 % of the amount of coolstorage were found to contribute to reduce the floortemperature during daytime of the following day.
