Sikorsky-Boeing SB-1 Defiant reaches 232 knots

Sikorsky and Boeing's joint proposal for the Army's Future Long Range Assault Aircraft effort, the SB-1 Defiant, achieved speeds up to 232 knots using less-man-full engine power during a flight demonstration, company officials said today. During an Oct. 12 demonstration at Sikorsky's flight test center in West Palm Beach, FL, the aircraft flew with "about two-thirds prop torque and engine power" and achieved "211 knots straight and level and 232 knots in a descent," the company said in a statement.
