Proposal for a Study of a Method for Monitoring Study Progress in Database Exercises in the Classroom Using the Audit Log

摘要

Structured Query Language (SQL) is widely used to operate Relational Databases (RDBs), and to operate an RDB with SQL, an application called an SQL Client is used. Recently, many SQL Clients have been developed and have become more users friendly. An SQL Client is very useful for learning SQL, but it is not designed for the classroom. There are some problems associated with classroom use. One problem is that the teacher cannot monitor the learner's progress, and in any case, it is difficult to add such a function to an SQL Client. In this paper, we propose a method for gathering information for monitoring study progress on the RDB side using an Audit Log. With this method, learners can use any SQL Client. We have developed an experimental system to implement this method and evaluate its use in the classroom.
