ABSTRACT The starting thiopyrimidine carbonitrile derivatives 1a, b were synthesized via the reaction of phenylthiourea, ethylcyanoacetate and appropriate aromatic aldehydes namely 2-thiophenaldehyde and verateraldehyde.
