Analysis of Plasmodium falciparum isolates collectedbefore, during, and after a 1999 malaria epidemic in Djiboutishows that, despite a high prevalence of resistance tochloroquine, the epidemic cannot be attributed to a suddenincrease in drug resistance of local parasite populations
