Echinococcus multilocularis, the causative agent of humanalveolar echinococcosis, is reported for the first time in RedFoxes (Vulpes vulpes) in Hungary. This parasite may be spread-ing eastward because the population of foxes has increased asa consequence of human interventions, and this spread mayresult in the emergence of alveolar echinococcosis in CentralEastern Europe
