Hepatitis delta virus is the only representative of theDeltavirus genus, which consists of 7 differentiated majorclades. In this study, an eighth clade was identified from 3distinct strains. Deltavirus genetic variability should be con-sidered for diagnostic purposes. Clinical consequences ofthe diversity have yet to be evaluated
