Purpose:Thepurposeofthisstudywastocompareimagingofchoroidalneovascularization(CNV)usingswept-source(SS)andspectral-domain(SD)opticalcoherencetomographyangiography(OCTA).Methods:Opticalcoherencetomographyangiographywasperformedusinga100-kHzSS-OCTinstrumentanda68-kHzSD-OCTAinstrument(CarlZeissMeditec,Inc.).Both3?—3-and6?—6-mm2scanswereobtainedonbothinstruments.The3?—3-mm2SS-OCTAscansconsistedof300A-scansperB-scanat300B-scanpositions,andtheSD-OCTAscansconsistedof245A-scansat245B-scanpositions.The6?—6-mm2SS-OCTAscansconsistedof420A-scansperB-scanat420B-scanpositions,andtheSD-OCTAscansconsistedof350A-scansand350B-scanpositions.B-scanswererepeatedfourtimesateachpositioninthe3?—3-mm2scansandtwiceinthe6?—6-mm2scans.Choroidalneovascularizationwasexcludedifnotfullycontainedwithinthe3?—3-mm2scans.ThesamealgorithmwasusedtodetectCNVonbothinstruments.TwogradersoutlinedtheCNV,andthelesionareaswerecomparedbetweeninstruments.Results:Twenty-sevenconsecutiveeyesfrom23patientswereanalyzed.Forthe3?—3-mm2scans,themeanlesionareasfortheSS-OCTAandSD-OCTAinstrumentswere1.17and1.01mm2,respectively(P=0.047).Forthe6?—6-mm2scans,themeanlesionareasfortheSS-OCTAandSD-OCTAinstrumentswere1.24and0.74mm2(P=0.003).Conclusions:TheareasofCNVtendedtobelargerwhenimagedwithSS-OCTAthanwithSD-OCTA,andthisdifferencewasgreaterforthe6?—6-mm2scans.
