摘要

Background: Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the world, occurring at some point in upto 75% of sexually active women. Virtually all cervical cancers are caused by HPV infections, with just two HPV types, HPV-16 and HPV-18, responsible for about 70% of all cases. Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected women represent one of the highest risk groups for the development and progression of HPV induced cervical precursor lesions and cervical cancer.
