Health care worker practices around face mask use in hospitals in Hanoi, Vietnam

Background: The World Health Organization guidance for the protection of healthcare workers against pandemic influenza virus infection recommends the use of standard and droplet precautions (including surgical masks or a face shield) during most patient interactions and N95 or equivalent respirators for aerosol-generating procedures. However, it is not always feasible in low resource settings for hospitals to provide single use masks to their staff.
