Cryptococcus neoformans is an encapsulated basidiomycetous yeast with a worldwide distribution that is an opportunistic fungal pathogen in immunocompromised patients.1,2 However C. neoformans has not been reported, to date, as the agent of pericarditis in a patient with cystic fibrosis (CF) after lung transplantation.
