Isolation and Determination of Hypericins from Different Parts of Hypericum triquetrifolium Turra Grown in Khozestan by UV/Visible Spectrophotometry

BackgroundObjective:Hypericinisanaphtodianthronewithmultiplepharmacologicactions.HypericumtriquetrifoliumTurragrowsindifferentpartofIran.Theaimofthepresentstudywastoisolateanddeterminethequantityofhypericinsindifferentparts(leaf,flowerandstem)ofthisplantgrowninKhozestanprovince.MatrialsMethods:DifferentpartsofHypericumtriquetrifoliumTurra(leaf,flowerandstem)werecollectedandextractedwithmethanol50%usingsoxhletapparatus.HypericinwasdeterminedusingUV/Visiblespectrophotometerat590nm.Results:Thepercentsofhypericininleaves,flowersandstemswere310,210and150mg/100g,respectively.Conclusion:LeavesandflowersofHypericumtriquetrifoliumTurrahaveconsiderableamountsofhypericin.
