The antimu¨llerian hormone (AMH) e located in the shortarm of chromosome 19 with 2750 nucleotide bases e isa homodimeric glycoprotein that weighs 140 kDa and isa member of the transforming growth factor-? superfamily,which is involved in male sex differentiation and is responsiblefor the regression of Mu¨llerian ducts.1 AMH is exclusivelyproduced by granulosa cells and is the only marker that isthought to be stable throughout the menstrual cycle. AMH hasbeen suggested as a marker for the quantity of oocytesremaining within the ovaries as it is a better marker of ovarianreserve than age, basal FSH, estradiol and inhibin.2.
