摘要

It is a great challenge for designing a routingprotocol that can maximize the survival time of WSN(Wireless Sensor Network), due to the limited energy ofsensor node. As a well-known hierarchical routing protocolin WSN, LEACH protocol could extend the WSN lifetimeeffectively. It assumes that all nodes can communicate withSINK node directly. With the expansion of WSN scale, theaverage distances between cluster head node and basestation (BS) increase significantly, which results in muchmore communication energy cost. For the large-scale WSN,this paper proposes a new protocol LEACH-MM. LEACHMMmerges adjacent clusters according to the residualenergy of adjacent cluster head nodes. It regards thedistance between the cluster head node and SINK node as ameasure to construct a multilayer structure of clusters. Theexperimental result shows that, LEACH-MM can reduce theenergy consumption of the whole network effectively andprolong the survival time of the system.
