The waiting hall is an important part for railwaypassenger station. To optimize and analyze the usage ofwaiting hall has great significance for improving operationefficiency of railway passenger station. Based on theresearch on the passenger volume and passenger flowconstruction, distribution regularities of passenger arrivaltime, passenger waiting time and the capacity of checkingtickets windows can be obtained. On the basis ofoptimization and analysis of large scale railway passengerstations, algorithm for passenger stream lines of differentplatforms can be obtained and 0-1 planning model of theminimum waiting areas divided can be established. Basedon the above work, constrains on whether there existparallel operations for railway staffs are established, andphrases are divided into several time blocks, the objectfunction is the balance usage of waiting halls in large scalerailway stations in one day and the shortest passengerstream lines in waiting halls, then a multiple-objectivemodel on operation arrangement for waiting halls of largescale railway passenger stations is proposed, and its optimalalgorithm is also present. Finally, a case study is carried outto verify the validity, objectivity and applicability of thismodel and its algorithm through calculated and analyzedpractical data based on Lanzhou railway station. Optimalresults show that the model on operation arrangement forwaiting hall in large scale railway passenger stations canreach the usage balance of waiting halls and the shortestpassenger stream lines, the maximum difference betweensimulation passenger flow volume of each waiting hall andactual waiting passenger flow volume is 296, and theminimum difference is 131.
