Entrepreneurship or Reemployment? Effects of Human Capital of the Elder Knowledge Workers on Their Re-occupation Choices

This article focuses on the elder knowledge workers from the academic university, and uses the multiple logistic model to analyze the effects of human capital of the elder knowledge workers on their re-occupation choices. Some findings are as follows: the elder knowledge workers highly skilled will prefer to choose entrepreneurship instead of doing what he previously did. However, higher education makes them easier to occupy in stable wage jobs, so they will not be willing to adventure to set up a business. On academic background, the elder knowledge workers majoring in science and engineering, who possess patent or applied research achievements are more likely to choose entrepreneurship while those have social background intend to continue their previous work. Moreover, older men are prone of entrepreneurship whereas older women prefer the former employer. In addition, accumulation of experience and skills is good for the elder knowledge workers? entrepreneurship and finding new employer. Finally, we proposes some policy suggestions according to the results of empirical study.
