Application of PGNAA for Measuring the Carbon and Nitrogen in the Aqueous Solution

摘要

The content of carbon and nitrogen is the important index for quality monitoring?in groundwater. For measuring the concentration of carbon and nitrogen simultaneously?in aqueous solution, a PGNAA setup with a D-T neutron generator and a 4 × 4?inch BGO detector has been designed with Monte Carlo simulations. The size of setup,?after optimization by using MCNP, was set as 60 cm × 60 cm (diameter × height). Moreover, the measurement has been achieved, and the results showed that the carbon and?nitrogen had a good linearity between their own concentration and characteristic peak,?with the correlation coefficient reaching almost at 1. Also the results were well matched with the results of MCNP simulation. Finally the minimum detectable concentrations?(MDC) of carbon and nitrogen have been discussed, respectively.
