TheALICEDiffractive(AD0)detectorhasbeeninstalledandcommissionedforthesecondphaseofoperation(RUN-II).Withthisnewdetectoritispossibletoachievebettermeasurementsbyexpandingtherangeofpseudo-rapidityinwhichtheproductionofparticlescanbedetected.SpecificallytheselectionofdiffractiveeventsintheALICEexperimentwhichwaslimitedbytherangeoverwhichrapiditygapsoccur.AnynewdetectorshouldbeabletotakedatasynchronouslywithallotherdetectorsandtobeoperatedthroughtheALICEcentralsystems.OneofthekeyelementsdevelopedfortheAD0detectoristheDetectorControlSystem(DCS).TheDCSisdesignedtooperatesafelyandcorrectlythisdetector.Furthermore,theDCSmustalsoprovideoptimumoperatingconditionsfortheacquisitionandstorageofphysicsdataandensuretheseareofthehighestquality.TheoperationofAD0impliestheconfigurationofabout200parameters,aselectronicssettingsandpowersupplylevelsandthegenerationofsafetyalerts.ItalsoincludestheautomationofprocedurestogettheAD0detectorreadyfortakingdataintheappropriateconditionsforthedifferentruntypesinALICE.TheperformanceofAD0detectordependsonacertainnumberofparameterssuchasthenominalvoltagesforeachphotomultipliertube(PMT),thethresholdlevelstoacceptorrejecttheincomingpulses,thedefinitionoftriggers,etc.AlltheseparametersaffecttheefficiencyofAD0andtheyhavetobemonitoredandcontrolledbytheAD0DCS...
