Hotelectronsareofkeyimportancetounderstandmanyphysicalprocessesinplasmaphysics.Theyimpactstronglyonatomicphysicsasalmostallradiativepropertiesareseriouslymodified.X-rayspectroscopyisofparticularinterestduetoreducedphotoabsorptionindensematter.WereportonastudyofthecopperKαX-rayemissionconductedatthens,kJlaserfacilityPALS,Prague,CzechRepublic.Thincopperfoilshavebeenirradiatedwith1ωpulses.TwosphericallybentquartzBraggcrystalspectrometerswithhighspectralandspatialresolutionhavebeensetupsimultaneouslytoachieveahighlevelofconfidenceinthespectraldistribution.Inparticular,anemissionontheredwingoftheKα2transition(λ=1.5444?)couldbeidentifiedwithcomplexatomicstructurecalculations.Wediscusspossibleimplicationsfortheanalysisofnon-equilibriumphenomenaandpresentfirstatomicphysicssimulations...
