Preparation of Activated Carbon from Coconut Husk and Study on Uptake of 2, 4, 6- Trichlorophenol from Water

The preparation of Activated Carbon from coconut huskand study of the uptake of 2,4,6 – Trichlorophenol from pollutedwater has been studied in the present work. Production of activatedcarbon using coconut husk by physicochemical activation methodwas used. This consisted of potassium hydroxide (KOH) treatmentand air gasification inside the furnace. The effect of KOH: Charimpregnation ratio on the 2,4,6 – Trichlorophenol uptake andactivated carbon yield were investigated.
