References(3) Metal halide lamps with gallium iodide additive are widely used in the field of photoengraving and photocopy applications. The auther has developed a new type of metal halide lamp which has an improved energy distribution by using both gallium and ferric iodides as additives. Using a specific additive composition, the improved lamp has a desirable spectral energy ballance, which brings the maximum light output in the spectral range between 360 and 420 nm. This lamp has a tubular shape and is installed in a lamp house with a shutter unit and a cooling fan. The improved metal halides lamp offers a wide range of applications for photoengraving using diazo type photosensitizers and also photo etching using dichromic and non-chromic type photosensitizers. The lamp has further applications for curing photochemical resins and exposing Bright Light Contact Film and RL Film.
