Imaging Infrastructure Issues for Automated Imaging

Increased sophistication in laboratory automation has increased the importance of computer technology, and has had an impact on the information technology infrastructure of organizations as a whole. Scientific imaging architecture is the subject of this technical note, because of the diversity of the technology, variety of data formats, and the volume of data it represents. The infrastructure elements affected by automated imaging are acquisition computers, image analysis workstations, data storage, and network. This note describes infrastructure issues that may arise and suggest solutions.
