British Columbia Ecological Services Initiative

摘要

Ecological Goods and Services (EG&S) are benefitsderived from ecological functions of healthy eco-systems, which are globally recognized as neces-sary for human health and well-being. British Columbiaand Canada lack policies to provide farmers with incen-tives to supply and (or) enhance ecological goods and services on their lands. The British Columbia EcologicalServices Initative's (BCESI) objective is to demonstrate avoluntary incentive-based model that encourages farm-ers to adopt or preserve Beneficial Management Prac-tices (BMPs) for the maintenance and enhancement of ecological goods and services under their management control.
