Exclusive breastfeeding is the best recommendedinfant feeding method for the frst six months of lifeand has a protective effect against child morbidity andmortality1, but the reduction in the rate of the EBF isa serious problem, especially in developing countrieslike Bangladesh.2 Bangladesh is traditionally abreastfeeding country, but it is strange to observe thatthe majority of protein energy malnutrition (PEM)cases present in less than one year of age. This picturere?ects the failure of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF)practice in the country.
