摘要

It has been nearly ten years since the first study on letter string problem solving by meta-analogical trans- fer was published. Since then a number of studies on the subject have attempted to replicate the seminal findings. In general replications have produced inconsistent or negative findings. This paper reviews the experimental literature produced so far and examines the variables that modulate the phenomenon. The paper also suggests that the current research agenda and the editorial politics regarding problem solving by analogical transfer should be carefully reviewed.
