Thisarticlehighlightstheimportanceofcommunicationandcollaborationwithunitsoutsidethelibrarytomakeself-archivingattractivetoauthors.Themonthlyelectronicpublication,LundVirtualMedicalJournal(LVMJ),publishedbytheDepartmentofStrategicCommunicationoftheFacultyofMedicineatLundUniversity,startedasaresponsetotheneedtoincreasethevisibilityofongoingresearchbytheLundUniversityfaculty,andwiththeaimofshowingallpublishedfaculty-authoredarticles.Atthetimethejournalwaslaunched,LundUniversityLibrariesHeadOfficehadsetuptheirinstitutionalrepositoryfortheuniversity,LU:research.ThisarticledescribesfeaturesofLVMJandthesynergisticrelationshipbetweenLU:researchandLVMJ.ItalsodiscussessomeofthechallengesinproducingLVMJandfutureplansforthejournal.
