Low Back Pain and Intervertebral Disk Displacement. Bibliometric and bibliographic review

Objective To conduct a literature search of the pathology of lumbosacral spine in the recent years to know scientific output of researchers, the impact of publications, scientific activity in each country, the most productive authors, how the scientific literature is scattered and aging science, using the tertiles and cuartiles. Method Literature search was conducted using descriptors Low Back Pain (LBP), Intervertebral Disk Displacement (HDI) and bibliometric study limited to the years 2009-2010. Results The number of magazines we need to read to get enough knowdledge about these diseases are covered in the first tertile, the journals that publish more on this subject are Spine and European Spine Journal, most articles and first authors were from the U.S., English was the dominant language, with increasing presence of Chinese, most magazines were in the field of orthopedic surgery and the authors developed their activity in hospitals and universities. The items were valued part of their ISI journals included in the first two quartiles (Q1 and Q2). Conclusions Lumbosacral spine pathologies represent a concern for the scientific community, although labor issues that relate to them generate less publications than those devoted to the clinical aspects of employment, highlighting the related publications generated disabilities.
